Advancing Health Equity & Celebrating Community

Since 2018, The Tampa Bay Collard Green Festival Inc. (TBCGF), has been committed to advancing health equity, disease prevention, and economic empowerment for underserved communities, particularly Black, Brown, and African American populations. As a leader in health equity programming, TBCGF focuses on addressing the systemic interconnection between diabetes, heart health, and hypertension—three conditions that disproportionately impact communities of color due to food insecurity, limited access to preventive healthcare, and socioeconomic barriers.

Our annual festival, held during Presidents’ Day weekend, serves as a powerful platform to combat health disparities through community engagement, education, and direct services. With over 12,000 attendees, it is one of the Bay Area’s largest opportunities for screenings, education, and health interventions.

Through strategic partnerships, large-scale community outreach, and culturally relevant health education, TBCGF provides direct prevention, care, and treatment solutions for diabetes while simultaneously addressing its primary comorbidities—cardiovascular disease and high blood pressure.
